Spring Gathering Dates are: May 3-6, 2012
Camp Carolwood, NC

Camp Carolwood  is located in Lenoir, NC.  

The camp includes 144 acres of wooded hills.

This is a great opportunity to make new friends, as well as to renew old friendships in a relaxed atmosphere. There is time to choose planned activities, informally discuss homeschooling perspectives with other families, enjoy games, explore the hiking trails.  Gatherings are noncommercial in nature (no outside vendors)

General Camp Information

We have cabins and the Buffalo Lodge reserved, that includes a kitchen and dining area.  There is no tent space available.

Meals:

Thursday ALL meals and Friday Lunch is on your own.  There is very limited refrigerator space available.  We will have use of the kitchen for meal preparation, be sure to clean up after yourself. 

Friday evening: Potluck: The best meal of the Gathering! We will eat at 6 PM. Please bring a main dish PLUS a salad, side dish or dessert. (Note: Please bring a list of ingredients for each dish you contribute - for our friends who limit their diet by choice or need).

Saturday Breakfast: is sometimes a pancake breakfast fundraiser to support our scholarship program (planning and volunteers for this will be discussed on the yahoo list…)

Otherwise, Saturday breakfast is “on your own” – If you do not want to participate in the fundraiser you can bring your own food,  feel free to use the kitchen - AND clean up when you are done!  

Saturday lunch and dinner, and Sunday brunch. We will be preparing our own group meals in the lodge Kitchen. Each family is asked to bring a snack to contribute to the Saturday snack table.

Activities

Does some member of your family have a skill or talent to share with us? Leading a campfire sing or special game, soapstone carving, recycled paper-making, an adult discussion of interest? The field is wide open to your creativity! We hope that each family will contribute an activity to the weekend – the activity leader may be of any age! If you plan an outdoor activity, you might consider also planning an alternative indoor activity in case of rain. Please indicate your choice on the activity sheet. Bring card & board games and puzzles for indoor time.
 

Chores

Our weekend is a cooperative effort, making the work load a light one. We ask that everyone age 12 or over participate in two chores. If you or a family member has special needs please make sure to type that in, there is a space provided. As always, each family is responsible for leaving their room clean and neat on Sunday. Thanks!

FLT Gathering Fee:
We are offering a complete room and board package that covers the whole weekend:

Adults (12 yrs and older) -- $59
Children (4 to 11 yrs) -- $53
**children 3 and under are free!**

A limited number of partial scholarships are available by request.
